Maria is a Canadian-Scottish writer and film producer with her creative work is described as:

‘A haunted dream-like reality, laced with unsettling gothic and folk themes which challenge relationships and the psyche’ .

Born in Calgary, raised in Toronto and Edinburgh and having lived part-time in Dubai, Sharjah and Lahore, Maria has grown up with a sea of cultures and stories around her. The nomadic lifestyle heavily inspired her way of living and pursuit ofthe arts. Currently, Maria is writing and curating a collection of short stories which are primarily influenced and based in the East.

Alongside creative endeavours Maria is also establishing her film production company, MOUAD. With the aim of distributing films that primarily showcase MENASA talent, narratives, and productions, connecting them with audiences worldwide on screens near them.

Maria is an Associate Producer on an upcoming short film, Glint, directed by Sayna Fardaraghi: ‘a coming-of-age short, told through a psychological horror lens’ to be released on 20th February 2025.

Maria has six years of experience in business development, management and marketing. Currently supporting FN Group on various projets in AI and FinTech. Other passions include music composition, fashion design and sports.
