Maria Ahmad is a Canadian-British writer and filmmaker. Growing up across Canada, the UK, UAE and Pakistan, her diverse upbringing has significantly shaped her creative voice, often investigating themes of culture and identity. She holds a BA (Hons) in Creative Writing and Music, with a personal focus on Gothic Literature, Ethnomusicology and Film Scoring. Maria is drawn to psychologically layered storytelling, crafting emotionally resonant narratives that interrogate perception and belonging, challenging the familiar.

Maria aims to bring authentic stories and representation to screen whilst crafting psychologically layered narratives that examine identity, emotional realities, and social perception. Inviting viewers into unsettling yet intimate worlds where the familiar is challenged. Her upcoming projects include Glint (2025) and Dum (2026).
